Clicking noise after BMR rear susp parts swap
ZL1 1LE: recently swapped BMR upper ,lower controls arms, trailing arms, toe rod and sway bar link. After the car came back from alignment shop under medium~hard braking I'm hearing rhythmic clicking sound. Brakes off, the sound goes away. Hard to figure out if it's coming from front or rear. But I didn't touch the front at all. There is no clicking sound when turning or driving hard or pushing the car hard in turns. I have a track day coming up this coming weekend @ mid-ohio.
Any ideas on how to fix this suggestions? Thanks in advance !

were you in the brakes changing pads? Id look at the two retaining pins and make sure that they are fully seated/flush/etc. I had made that error with my my rear pads.
Maybe the rotor is dirty from grease and fingerprints from the other work that was done there. Just brainstorming what could be rhythmic with the brakes applied. Put someone in the back seat that can listen for it and try to isolate it. Ive done much of what you did with my car and there is some NVH sorts of things that come along with all of that that were there and jsut more prominent now. |

BMR says you can re-use the TTY bolts, in my experience it turned out badly for me. I too had noise from the rear and it turned out the bolts were loose, ordered new bolts and re-torqued and it's been fine since.

I had the same issue, the rod ends ended up being bad. But when I talked with bmr they also told me to make sure I'm not going past tq spec or that could cause issues as well.

Turns out he bolts are dirt cheap, pick up a torque angle gauge at Harbor Freight or Amazon if you don't have one. IMHO BMR should include new hardware or at least have recommend it, could get spicy if one fell out.

Thank you for the input. I have a track day coming up this weekend. Last night, I jacked up the car to switch from street to track settings and to change the tires to F1 3Rs. I re-torqued all the bolts to spec, and everything seems to be in order. However, when I inspected the front brakes and cleaned them, thinking some debris might have been caught, I noticed a slight grinding sound from the right front wheel bearing when spinning the wheel. I checked the left side, and it seems quiet. I got the part and will be replacing it tonight. I'll update you if it fixes the issue. Hopefully, it does; otherwise, I’ll lose my money for the track day :-(

The torque spec on those TTY bolts aren't really verifiable unless grossly loose, as an example the trailing arms are torqued to 52lbft then rotated an additional 105 degrees.

I isolated the sound from the front right wheel with a buddy in the car. I was outside and I replaced the wheel hub. The problem still exists. I'm getting new pads and rotors delivered tomorrow. It sound is very like the spinny wheel in carnival with needle. I'm sitting at the dealership let's see what they are going to say. Fingers crossed

got the car back from the dealer. They told me everything looks in good condition except the Front passenger side rotor is damaged on the inside ( I didn't peak inside and looked at it. Might have caught some debris and got scratched up pretty bad. I'm getting new rotors and brake pads getting delivered tomorrow. Going to swap it and hope it goes away. My final shot at this issue. if I miss, I might have to back out on this coming weekend track day. Fingers crossed super tight. lol
