Engine code PO156
First I am not sure were to post this for help. If this is not the right thread Mods please move to the correct area, Thank you.
With that said my car threw a PO156 code. When I searched the reason I came up with an O2 sensor malfunction. I did see that it is the first sensor on the exhaust from the engine. Am I correct in this? How hard is it to change and can I do it it myself? Prior to the code I did kinda stepped on it from a stand still (wanted to impress the girl next to me) The car hesitated then took off...failure on the impressing part. Any help would be appreciated. Again sorry if I posted this in the wrong portion of our site.

It's not difficult to change or replace yourself as long as the sensor comes out easily. The hardest part really is getting the O2 sensor loosened, especially if it's original and has never been removed before.
They make special sockets that are channeled in the side to make space for the O2 wire. I used one of those and a little heat from a propane torch and it made it lot easier. When I reinstalled the new sensor I used a little bit of anti-seize on the sensor threads to prevent the same issue in the future. Here are a couple examples of the O2 tools you can use with a long socket wrench. The top socket is a bit weaker structurally than the second one, but it did the job. You can also use a long open end wrench for leverage.

I am stumped, as my post says above I got a PO156 code when " I stepped on it from a stand still (wanted to impress the girl next to me) The car hesitated then took off" I cleared the code with my OBII reader. Since I cleared it no code. I tried to re-enact the same cause of getting the code and nothing. Could it just had been a moment thing or clearing the code had something to do with it. I do not want to spend the money for an O2 sensor and tools that InFiD3ViL told me would make the job easier. if I don't have to

There are anomalies that can happen. If you cleared the code and it doesn't return in multiple drive cycles and is running good i would leave it alone.

You can also use a line wrench that works great on the O2 sensors. A little heat as already mentioned makes all the difference in the world.

Exactly. Sometimes conditions are off just enough to trigger the code. If everything seems cool now, the car is running right, and not triggering any codes, I would leave it alone. Just keep a close eye on it for a while and drive as you normally would.

I am going to have to see if I saved the code damn it lol. Well the one that I did pull out was burnt and all carbon up. Since changing it I notice a better idle and better gas mileage.
