I've had zero problems through ~15K miles w/my M6 LT1 (and really love having a manual again( but last time I drove it for a while all of sudden on the way home on every shift it over rev'ed the engine and when the clutch was fully depressed it made clunking noises. Shifting to neutral the rev's return to normal (as well as once in the next gear).
I thought it might be rev-matching feature (which I use) issue, but I disabled it and the problem was the same.

I have appointment to have my dealer work on it next week (and plan to have GM roadside assistance tow it there) but just curious if anyone heard of something like this or has any ideas what it could be?

You could have a broken pressure plate. As soon as you put some pressure on the clutch, barely pressing it, it starts to slip and the revs shoot up.

You need to adjust for that happening, but needs to be fixed.

ok - yes, that seems to match my symptoms pretty closely.
Will see if dealer confirms next week and go from there.
