Considering Wheels from China

I'd like to get some nice 2 piece forged wheels. I've been corresponding with a company Jova Forged Wheels in China. (https://www.jovawheels.com/our-factory_d1) They are quoting approximately $2k shipped for custom painted 2 piece forged wheels. They are telling me they build above the standards for wheel testing.

I know I'm going to get blasted for this, but I figure it can't hurt to look into it. I'm tempted as the price is literally more than half of what you can get here in the states. They have a nice collection and the custom paint them to your preference and if you want monoblock wheels they are asking for about $1200 shipped. Sounds pretty good.

I'm ready for the torching of looking into China product but the real input I'm seeking is has anyone else gone this route? If so, please share your positive or negative experience.

This is just FYI and is 10+ year old info but Chinese tire mfg's made the same claims about their RV trailer tires and they were complete BS. The main issue was that if tires made in China weren't made by a joint venture with a reputable US or European mfger there was no guarantee that complete validation testing was done.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

I've seen too many cheap wheels marketed as quality products fail.
This could be as painless as frequent flats from cracked castings, shaking at high speed or just being heavier than described.
It could also be as fatal as a catastrophic failure at high speeds. Regardless of how they fail, customer service is likely non-existent.

YMMV

All good wisdom from the comments above. Has anyone actually went this route, let me know. I've seen comments here that some of these Chinese manufacturers make wheels for some of the American companies so there's got to be some credibility there. I'm just not sure who they are.

Dicastal makes the forged ZL1 and SS 1LE wheels in China, so the capability is definitely there.

The real problem is that buying those noname wheels is a luck of the draw, you will very likely get subpar units that either failed QA or never even received scrutiny. (If that wasn't the case, they could sell those wheels for a much higher price.)

As other's have noted, Chinese manufacturing can make good products. As with any other production location, the key is in getting a good design and production process specified in the first place and then keeping a close eye on production in the second place. For example, plenty of high-end tires are made in China these days for major brand names, but the companies whose names these products bear keep tabs on things closely, and they designed everything in-house. This means actually going to the factories to see what's going on first-hand. OTOH, the Chinese Name-you-never-heard-of tires are generally bad products.
