Best all around drag tire for LT1 M6?
Looking to buy myself a set of dedicated drag wheels and tires. I currently run a Michelin A/S 4 for the street, and it’s good, but I want to have a different tire and wheel set up for the street and strip.
I’ve seen people recommend a bias ply for manual transmissions, but as I live a fair distance away from the track that’s not an option for me. I’m looking to get a drag radial or DR equivalent to perform not just on the strip but on the street as well, and a bias ply isn’t going to do that. I currently have the Toyo R888 and R888r on my radar, but I wanted ya’lls opinion on a tire that’s still gonna hook while minimizing possible breakage.

You have an lt1, the advantage there is you can run a 16” in the back. Maybe even a 15”

No advantage to an LT1 out back, even though the brakes are smaller than SS/ZL1. No good 16” tire options and you still need to do a conversion to fit 15”.

It is! My first thought when I heard the “new” LT1 version wasn’t going to get Brembo rear brakes was that they were finally making it easy to run 15” rear wheels…nope lol. Dumb engineering and not understanding the target audience. If a V8 car gets shipped and the customer is opting to *not* have auxiliary radiators and coolers, and *wants* smaller rear brakes…well, you’d think that was a pretty safe bet the owner wants to drag race. Guess that was beyond GM’s reasoning haha…

I run the MT ET street R for my drag setup. I have daily drove on them for a couple of weeks and even got caught in the rain with them. No issues whatsoever as long as you aren't driving like an idiot.
They hook up good on the street as long as you get them warm first |

I second the MT ET street R 305 45 17 on a 17x10 wheel, you will hook on the track running about 16 PSI heated pressure.
