It's crazy to think that All GM had to do was incorporate a engine lock out feature in the BCM, where you set up a pin number and you enter it in the infotainment screen so the car will unlock and allow the engine to start. Yamaha does this on their watercrafts now instead of using a FOB.

You connect your phone to your hp tuners and hit unlock. There is no reason to re write a tune everytime. They said, the only way to steal it is to re write a tune and upload it before they try and take the car. It works with any tune, and can be added at any time. They claim worst case it will break your starter, but as he put, would you rather buy a new starter or a new car? They show you how to bypass the system in that video, rather with another hardware or couple wire that get tapped together. I was gonna move my obd port put in a fake and lock it, but tbh, I think this might be easier. It's only $100, and any tuner should be able to do it.
