Who'd a thunk it, you tun off 4 cylinders to save gas on a v8 and it has side effects.
I thunk it, I thunk it when I first heard about it.
They had to do it. I'm not a big defender of GM, but I'm also sure the engineers cringed just as much as we do.

I understand that the 6MT V8 Camaros don't have the AFM. Is the engine on risk because of this?

They do have the AFM parts but not active. Oposite ofnthe Challenger, in those M6 cars the parts are not in the engine.

I'll have 73k miles on my 17' SS 6spd before the week is out. Runs as good as new.

Anyway, here's a run down of the communication I got..
Hey Bud??? My Dealer always addresses me as Mr. being very professional. Calling customer Bud is unprofessional as hell.

I hope the v8 GM is engineering now cures a lot of problems and get higher mpg. Also like to have it in a rwd car with manual transmission .

All LT1's have AFM hardware, but it's only enabled on automatics. They can still fail, but the rate seems to be lower. There are plenty of AFM delete kits for that reason, because disabling it isn't a guarantee that you'll never have an issue.
