Latest addition to my collection - an Antifreeze "Kidney Bean" base Custom Camaro.
This color, and Lime, were the very first Hot Wheels production variants. Very few of these are known to exist (one to two dozen).

Just started collecting three weeks ago. What prompted it, was gifting my childhood cars and cases to my 9 year old nephew. My nephew started collecting about a year ago, and this past Spring I told him that I’d retrieve my childhood stuff from my parent’s storage. I’m 49, and I hadn’t laid eyes on them in 37-38 years. I spent hours in my parent’s storage about a month ago tomorrow, and located five 1977 Matchbox cases, with approximately 100 cars from 1970-1985. Mostly Hot Wheels and Matchbox, with a few Corgi and Tomico too. I surprised my nephew with them on my birthday, after I had cleaned them up and looked at what was there. He was thrilled. He got some cool stuff, and he is displaying them nicely. He is meticulous and will care for them well.
This prompted me to start looking for stuff that I knew he liked, whenever I I was in a store that carries them. Along the way, I started reading about them, and what to look for, like STH’s and TH’s. I decided that I would get a bunch of stuff I like, for a small collection for myself. I’m a Camaro and Trans Am fan. I got a bunch of each, off of eBay, and started hunting in Walmart and occasionally in The Toy Vault. My collection went from 5, including a few cars I kept from my childhood collection, to 46 in three weeks! Below is my childhood stuff my nephew has, and the stuff I kept, plus what I’ve added.
