Show them comps in your area for replacing the car. If none are in your area include all shipping charges and inspection charges associated with it. All samples should be from dealers only.

Warren buffet owns a bunch of insurance companies. Why? Because insurance companies make money.

Unfortunately the ony way to get the value of the car back is to get a lawyer.

sorry for the loss
But if you think for one minute the local Police don't know where to look for your car is lame.
More than 90% percent of all cars here in the bay area that are stolen are used in side shows stripped and dumped in Oakland. Then the parts are usually sold on sites like Facebook Marketplace, ebay Offerup, Ect...

U actually expect it to be safe in that environment!

Really sucks that happened to you. But you are far braver than I leaving it in an airport parking lot. I don't like leaving mine unattended for just a few minutes. Airports are a prime location for car thefts since they know the owner is usually gone for a while and no one is paying too much attention. I've heard good things about USAA, so hopefully they treat you right.

How, can you expand on that ?

Excuse me for saying this, but when someone parks a Camaro ZL1, and a convertible on top of that, in a public parking garage and then leaves it there for several days, it's almost as if he is wanting his car to be stolen.

Out of simple courtesy, I won't say what I'm actually thinking about this decision. There could have been any number of ways to go out of town without leaving your car at a location that practically guaranteed that it would be stolen.

You could have left your car at home, and taken a taxi to the airport. Perhaps a friend or family member could have let you park your car at their home. Any number of alternatives could have been done instead of leaving one of the most popular cars on the stolen car list at an airport parking lot.

I'm sorry for your loss, but you asked for it.

The last thing I will say on this is to thank those that have been very helpful over the years. I still have and have had several Camaros in my time. To the others that are self-important, self-righteous assholes that love to criticize others misfortunes, you are what give these forums a bad names. Pretty sad.

It is neither normal nor acceptable that public parking amenities such as an airport garage would be a location where a Camaro is "guaranteed" to be stolen. Even so, the real solution isn't to curl up and avoid such "risky" places but to properly clean them up, otherwise this will never end. Yes, OP definitely could've chosen a more safe storage option, but what happened is still not his fault in any way.

I don’t think blaming a victim is correct. The criminal that stole the car is to blame. The car was locked and had an alarm. Blame GM for an easily bypassed system more than the owner.

Sorry for your loss. That does suck and I hope the assholes who stole it slowly fall into a wood chipper feet first.
