Carbon Ceramic need to be at proper operating temp to really get the bite and braking power they were purposed for. They offer supreme braking in extreme driving conditions. Using a good conventional steel 2 piece rotor would eliminate 5k to 7k in overall cost of vehicle.

Ah, quite right. Sorry if I misrepresented. My mistake. I figured with the low cost of the Spool Valve Dampers vs MRC it would essentially make MRC obsolete on cars like the Z/28 and ZL1.

The more I think about it, I'm pretty sure this will be the ZL1. If you compare it to the 5th gen ZL1, they are about the same. Both had an upgraded front fascia for cooling, a large heat extractor and some minor aero work.

I agree. What I still struggle with is the stance and tire/wheel package. That care looks to be even more track focused than the 5th Gen ZL1.

The stance seems a little lower but the wheels seem to be similar in size.

Current has 20x10 and 20x11 with 285 and 305s if I remember correctly. I think those are 305s front and back which means the wheels are probably 20x11 in the front as well. The dish in the front wheels just looks deeper than the current ZL1/1LE wheels. Again, JMHO.

HP was code name for what originated as a Z/28 for the 5th gen, but they changed that up and made it a ZL1. Even some of the ZL1 parts have "Z/28" molded into them near the part numbers. Before the ZL1 was announced, on the Martinrea tour in Canada, we saw a HUGE pumpkin and rear carriage assembly off to the side. Obviously some of us got interested for more. All they would say is that it was for the "HP".

Additionally, when several people from the plant and myself were all sitting around in the parking lot at the 2012 ZL1 showing at the big Camaro meet in Oshawa, they were already working on a Z/28. They did not say what it was at the time, but a few of the workers told me about a lighter-weight version with limited options, and different glass. It was a non-supercharged version they were fitting the hood on that day. They said this one was going to be a beast. Turns out it was the Z/28. I was sworn to secrecy at the time, though. But now that it happened, I don't think it's such a huge deal about the secrecy.

My personal thoughts on what we're seeing is - MULES. Not the factory versions. Not sure what they're testing with each mule, but my guess is that what we'll get is the ZL1, with an optional "track-pack" option called the Z/28 with different suspension, and maybe even a different engine. That's my guess. Reason why I think that is that the dismal sales figures that both the ZL1 and Z/28 had suffered by either being over-built or simply missed sales guesses. GM will build them, IF you go in and ask for it.

In either case, with V8 in 2017 and the EPA rules, that means you will pay through the nose for one of these cars, no matter if it's a hybrid-Z or separate vehicles, or just one.

Front tires are smaller on this car then the rears, is not that hard to tell, if they where same size, in a 1D pic they will look bigger then the rear's, and they dont that's why there smaller, look for the same size rims as the old ZL1 for this car.

Here is a pic of a Z/28 on the track look how big the front look compered to the rear, car is the same way as the 2017 ZL1 in the pics.

Are we sure that this is the ZL1 and not the 1LE? The reason I ask is because I thought only the 1LE's had the hash marks on the side of the front fender. If I am wrong please do call me out on it.

It has been stated a couple times or so, the hash marks are there for the driver. There are two cars of the same variant the video clip, one with, one without, but the cars are identical variants, so the hash marks are not an indicator of model, but rather the driver of one of them is not as familiar with the vehicle and needs to know where the center of the front wheels are located.

And besides, you can get fender hash marks on the 6th Gen SS, and probably others - check visualizer on chevy's site.
