315/30/20 on rears

Got a set of ZL1 wheels and threw on some summer tires 305/30/20's and they just don't look right. (Too much rim sticking out) Fronts are fine with the 285's but the rears are killing me. Do you think going with a set of 315's out back would solve the rim protrusion, but would I need to do any mods for clearance?

Thanks for any input. Car is a stock 2023 SS 1LE

Depends on which wheel and which ZL1 they came from.

The non 1LE wheels are 305/30R20 in the back, the 1LE's are:

2021 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with 1LE Package Front: 305/30R19, Rear: 325/30R19

I see you stated its for an SS.

You'll want to use the non 1LE ZL1 wheels and tire widths... 315 width on a 20" wheel is going to need a (I believe) 5mm spacer, and you'll have to move the wire harness on the rear driver side.

thanks Fluke............. they are ZL1 wheels from a non 1LE package car. I'm thinking it's got to be the brand/style of tire that I slapped on them. (Bridgestone Potenza) Rather not dick around with a spacer and relocating the wire harness if I don't have to. Probably should just get a different set of 305's and see if that makes the difference.

In that case, stick with your 1LE stock wheels. You can fit 305/30R20 no problem on the back without rubbing, and 285/30R20's on the front.

I have a non 1LE car myself and I use the 1LE wheels and tire widths. Only difference now is I use a 305/35R20 rear tire 555R2 so I had to move the wire harness in my case.

But if you stick to 305/30R20's on the back you'll be fine.

I will say this if it helps, these dot compliant drag radials are HUGELY different than regular street tires. I went from Eagle SC3's to 555R2's and the traction difference is night and day. And I'm not at stock power numbers. However, they are not as good on wet pavement as the Eagle SC3's for example. But the 555R2's are better than say MT Street SS for wet pavement. As always smart driving is the key in wet conditions.

I’m running 315/30/20 out back with Toyo R888R on 20x11 OEM SS 1LE wheels (same size as regular ZL1 wheels).

315/30R20's Did you need a spacer for them? Lethal Garage had to move his wire harness with his and used a 5mm spacer, but he may have been using 315/35's don't remember. And yes, the Non 1LE ZL1 uses the same wheels and tires as the SS 1LE in stock form.

315/30/20 is fine without spacers, although a 5mm spacer adds a bit of poke if that's what one's after. 35 aspect ratio is where rubbing issues kick in even with harness relocation.

I didn’t need to run a spacer with my 20” street wheels, but since my 15” drag pack does, I just leave the spacers in all the time. I moved the drivers side harness about 6 years ago lol.

Moving the harness is super easy. Do it anyway.
