GM Engineering
If you’ve never had a psychotic break or wanted to prevent stupidity by way of genocide, try removing a GM manual transmission shifter pins. The most retarded feat of engineering ever conceived. What the **** was wrong with good old bolts and threads? No let’s use a spring loaded retaining pin that can never be uninstalled without some form of telekinesis. One day when I am over this car, I will cheer its sale and happily go back to a Mustang. GM’s manual driveline is terrible to work on.
Thanks for letting me rant. What a pile.

Those things are definitely not made with the intention of service. Most likely a cost saving/assembly choice for the factory.
That said, I'd rather deal with those pins than have anything to do with an MT82 trans in a mustang gt again. |

I did have to deal with the pin when installing the hurst. I can see it being frustrating when you need to breeze through those steps with a job as big as the one you got there. Dam

Did you go at the pins from the inside of the car?

OP we all got to vent from time to time, even me- LOL.
Hopefully you were doing this work to upgrade to a Hurst short throw shifter. If that's the case, in a couple weeks you'll be back in love with your Camaro and the PIA pins will be a distant memory. |
