Thankfully in YouTube land, Mexico is one tap of the vlog camera away. Every time. Pretty cool how that works

Come on, it's called timelapse, these generous drivers spare no time and expense to drive all the way down to Ciudad Juarez for every single one of these clips

It's also slower 0-60 which is a more serious issue. The 1LE is strictly for looks on the street

The 1lE is not strictly for looks on street ( totally ignorant statement ) it’s made for the track bar none. Take them both out for a rip on a real track. My $6000 factory rear spoiler without front dive planes is for looks. Not for track performance

His statement was correct. He said the 1LE was for looks on the STREET. He didn't say anything about the track.

0-60 slower on a 1LE? I cant imagine why that would be. The aero doesnt come into play at that speed plus the 1LE is lighter. Maybe someone thinks the ZL1 launches better?

You’re right at that speed aero doesn’t come in to play. I think it’s everybody talking about top speed balls out rev limit, which really doesn’t matter because I’d like to see anyone holding it at that for a definitive top speed for a period of time

Mine ran a 1.41 on just my 5th and last pass at 7000 DA. It'll run 1.3x next time up here, maybe 1.2x at sea level.

It's a wash to 60, a ZL1 in touring mode should transfer weight better than the 1LE brick hard suspension, 1LE is a few lbs lighter and has more tire width though. Probably within a tenth in a skilled drivers hands, 1/4 mile would show more improvement for the ZL1 and the gap would only increase from there due to the 1LE's aero drag. On a road course is where the 1LE shines mostly due to the aero and better tires. This is nothing new though, this is all well known and documented by professional drivers over and over.

I'd say thats a fair assessment although a quick burnout on an unprepped street makes the 3R's nice and sticky. Just screwing around, I launched mine when it was about 50 degrees out on a street near me and didnt do well. Tried again after a short burnout and it hooked great. All the times I've ran at Gateway in E. St. Louis against other stock ZL whatevers, it was all about who cut a better light. I bounce between 1.69 and 1.75 60' times on Toyo 325 R888R's on 19 X 12's. ZL1's nearly all out MPH me by 2-3 MPH. |
