And as olrocker pointed out, then you can display one of these which I think I paid $1.98 for on Ebay several years ago. I always loved the angled stick too, but it just wouldn't work with the space limitations of these cars.
Yes

We both knew exactly where that belonged.

Ok, I have a functional question about the Hurst shifter. The stock shifter seems to be spring loaded to "line up" or "self return" to the 3/4 gate or position. Does the Hurst retain this function or spring loading?

I am having some work done on my car in a few months and considered having the Hurst installed at that time but I would hate to lose this feature.

I haven't installed mine yet in my 2020 but I'm 100% sure that feature won't change with the shifter.
Spring bias would stay with the 3-4 position.
Maybe or maybe not related: I have installed 2 of these in 4th gen cars and it didn't change.

Yes the shifter "self-centers" in neutral- right between 3rd and 4th gear. When I'm shifting from 2nd to 3rd, I let it move over and then push straight ahead with complete confidence it's gonna go into 3rd.

There is no change. This is dictated by the shift arm on the transmission, not the shifter. The shifter is just a lever & socket attached to it.

The install isn’t that bad. I did it on ramps in my driveway with no problem. Definitely worth it in my opinion.
