the 2014-2015 5th gen Z28 hold their value pretty well.

If I had left them all in the garage and waited a few decades, I would have made a fortune on them for sure. But...I can't put a value on how much fun I had owning and driving them. Today at 67 years of age, it doesn't matter as I won't live long enough to truly find out what happens on these cars so while I won't use the ZL1 as a daily (although I certainly could and did with my 2015 2 SS) and it will never see rain, I sure am not going to pass up enjoying it while I can. YMMV but we never know what tomorrow may bring and I like to live with the philosophy of, plan for tomorrow, but live for today. Having a (fill in the blank here) years old Camaro with 1000 miles on it or whatever and having to visit it in my garage while in a wheelchair isn't my idea of living.
I paid about $600 for my 69' Road Runner in 1975 just out of HS. Kept it for 12 or 13 years and sold it when the prices were creeping up for $1900.00. Had planned to keep in until antique but things happened and couldn't afford it as I had other cars too and was trying to make a living in the adult world.

I know the feeling Calgary, I had a '73 Type LT with split bumper. Love that look.

Low mileage stock 2SS 1LEs, MY24 riptide blue and nitro yellow will command a premium.
I think in general , any V8 6mt gen6 Camaro will stay pretty valuable as long as it's clean, stock and low mileage.
The tranny will have very little to do with value. Although by the time these are worth more you’ll have WAY more got only capable drivers then manual, so could even be worth more. Most love the 10 speed and are on the hunt for them.

I disagree. I don't think the difference would be massive at all, but two hypothetical cars that are exactly the same and total clones, one with a manual and one with an automatic, more than likely the manual would bring in more at auction.

You would be hard pressed to find any automotive journalist who's reviewed sports and performance cars for a living going back decades up till today say how they "love" that on (you name the model) there's not a manual option and they're glad the manufacturer ditched the stick for an auto, including the C8 Corvette, among others.

Less manuals were made than the autos as well every year of the 6th gen's production. Hell, when I was searching for a 2024 Black 1SS or 2SS a few months back, out of around 250 cars nationwide I think there were around only 25 with a stick.

Edit: And I think the ZL1 1LE one day with low miles will bring a ton of cash. Also, any 1SS 1LE or 2SS 1LE, whether stick or auto.

Not an oranges to oranges comparison, but for the moment just take the 2014-2017 Chevy SS(sedan). 2015-2017 offered manuals. If you follow BaT, the sedans are very sought after. Breaking it down further, the very few manuals are the ones fetching the most bucks.

I believe convertibles will bring more down the road. Particularly SS and ZL-1. And if equipped with manuals, there are fewer so fill in the blanks.

IIRC stick shift Camaros represented less than 20% of sales even in the last year or two when M6 sales surged a bit. Supply and demand dictate that they will fetch higher values as time goes on and their availability reduces.

Manuals tend to bring more money as enthusiast cars age. If you want a 4th Gen camaro/trans am the m6 costs on average about 4K more. Same thing on e92/46 M3’s. These are just some examples. I’m sure there are more.

Convertibles tend to bring less as enthusiast cars age. I’m currently in the market potentially for a GT500 and I’ve noticed the convertibles do not fetch as much as the coupes.

Unpopular opinion but I don’t think 1le packages will add much value to the SS’s and ZL1’s in the future mainly because they are just an option package. They are not their own specific trim like say a GT350, Boss 302 or the Z/28. Vehicles that have their own bespoke engine tend to hold their value really well like those examples above.

I'd love to be able to afford a I4 1LE in addition to add to my garage... drove one for about 20 minutes once, and fell in LOVE. What a great car!

I'll fight anyone who says different and I'll die on that hill... and this from someone who has owned a 12 5.0, 16 C7, 17 2SS, 17 911S and, a 22 ZL1. I also get to regularly drive a 19 GT5.0 PP1 tuned / E85 ~500HP.

Completely disagree.

Pick a generation of 911 and go look at equally spec'ed cars. Manuals are on average ~$7-10k more. This applies to Hellcats, and Z06 C7's too.

I just got done shopping those cars since Jan 1.

The one you enjoy the most while not bankrupting yourself.

If you’re looking for an investment, look elsewhere .

Which is crazy to me. That's why when you see these cars in the wild they are auto's so frequently.

To me, I definitely think that the M6 will have a higher value based on this like you said, and just in general going by how the market reacts for other muscle and sports cars that are manual.

When I was in the market for a used vehicle at the end of last year, the vehicles with auto trans that were for sale at the time were cheaper than the vehicles with manuals.

Believe it all comes down to the law of supply and demand - since they produced fewer manuals, the supply is inherently less in the used car market. And as fewer and fewer new cars are available with manual, that influences the demand for manuals in the used market.
