That is correct. Also, if you buy rear cooling ducts kit (85523690), it comes with very clear instructions that cover the installation of brake cooling ducts for front too. It says to take off brake shields in the rear completely ("and reinstall them after a track event", of course), and for the front it says to remove stock brake shield (full for SS or shortened for SS 1LE - both partially block the airflow) and install the small ones (23385146 and 23385147). In the guide they don't even call them brake shields - they are called heat shields for ball joints.

Update from my side - I've followed the guide for the front (installed huge Blackwing ducts 85536980 and 85536981, replaced stock SS 1LE brake shields with small ones), but I left the brake shields in the rear for now - just installed the rear cooling ducts. I didn't need to drill holes in rear control arms - they were already there.

Also, to keep it safe I've relocated the Magnaride sensor wiring in the front so it doesn't rub against the front brake duct.

Before and after on the same track with simillar weather conditions (60F, cloudy).

Front was 600F+. Not it stays within 530F - and I was braking really hard.
Rear was 500F+. Now it is within 430F. I hope with brake shields off it will drop to 400F.

So that mod definitely works. I had no brake fade after 10 hot laps, not even a sign of it. And wheels don't feel super hot too - I'm not worried to melt the glue of wheel balancing weights anymore. Good investments of $100 for front+rear if you take your car to the track.
